"Municipal City: the only place on earth where you can be anyone. Anyone from your favorite movies, books, TV shows, comics, video games or any cult media you can imagine. This is not virtual reality. This is real. Tina Lockhart arrives at the City to do exactly that, and is willing to pay any price to get in, willing to take the Elixir drug she needs just to breathe the air, and willing to kill, and risk being killed, just to survive. Municipal City: the only place on earth where you can do anything. Anything can be replicated, given the right technology, and anything can be done as long as you follow the rules of the game. But someone isn't playing by the rules. Someone is murdering players in the safe zones, something that should be impossible. As dangerous as this is for Tina Lockhart, things get worse as she becomes the one accused of these killings, and Tina desperately needs to find the truth in her world of cult fiction."

Who said education can't be fun? James and Brendan Dwyer's book beautifully illustrates
Albert Einstein's famous quote -
reality is merely an illusion! How we consume and create culture is explored in this fictitious tale of everyday people who decide to buck against the norm and live out their lives, indeed, till death do they part, in Municipal City! Follow Tina Lockhart as she struggles to make her way in a city made up of superheros and cult character wannabes as she attempts to find herself in her new reality that, unbeknownst to her, is as every bit as judgmental and dangerous as the one she thought she had left behind.
James and Brendan do an admirable job in exploring the complexities of identity formation within society and the tools that are available to you in order to create your own identity. It begs the question just how much control do we really have over our lives and how we are limited to choices determined for us by higher powers. Students interested in popular culture, or those of you being forced against your living, breathing will to take my course in
Consumerism, Leisure and Popular Culture, will enjoy this book not because I say so but because it really is just that good! Expect this on next term's book list!

REVIEWS
"This book is like nothing I've really read before. A mix of dystopia, thriller, sci-fi, crime and just plain awesomeness I couldn't stop reading. James and Brendan Dwyer, two young lads born in the 80s and living in Ireland, have really struck a winner with this novel and I can’t wait to see what they have next!"
"Take a part of Philip K Dick add a bit of Gibson throw in a splash of references and we get a tip of this wonderful and powerful piece of writing as Tina Lockhart soon takes part in the a city controlled not just by a game mechanics but the horror of a world controlled by desensitised society Murder cyberpunk and 90 references . What else do you want? 5/5 excellent writing"
"What a great story from start to finish. Couldn't put it down and felt like I was immersed to the world the author has so magnificently created. Brings back so many memories of my childhood whether its playing the early consoles long into the night or having movie marathons. All the while the author builds the story around these worlds, creating a suspenseful and thrilling plot full of twists and turns. Highly recommend. (Especially if your a 90's kid/teen)"
